Settings overview

Emma's Settings are split into three areas, accessible from the Settings menu in the main sidebar:

  • Organization settings — configuration that applies across your entire Emma organization (members, domains, playbooks, glossary, and subscription).
  • M&A data rooms — per-deal configuration for each M&A data room (access, assignments, integrations, and files).
  • Projects — per-project configuration (access, integrations, and files).

In this video you get a general overview of all the options within Settings.

In the article below and the other linked articles we go more in dept into all the functionality.

Organization settings

Organization settings apply to your entire Emma environment. Only Admins can access most of these pages. The Subscription page is also accessible to members with the Billing role.

Organization members

Invite people to your organization, assign them a role (Admin, User, or Billing), and manage or remove existing members. Pending invitations can be resent or cancelled here.

Authorized domain

Allow anyone with a matching email domain to join your organization automatically, without needing an individual invitation. Useful for large teams.

Playbooks

Create, share, and manage reusable playbook configurations. A playbook defines the document types, checks, and key terms applied to a data room or project. Playbooks can be shared across the organization or kept personal, and changes can be propagated to all linked data rooms.

Glossary

Define preferred translations and definitions for key terms per language. The glossary is included in AI prompts when Emma extracts key terms and generates risk summaries, helping it use terminology that matches your practice.

Subscription

View and manage your Emma subscription plan, billing email, payment method, and invoices. This page is only accessible to Admins and members with the Billing role.

M&A data room settings

Each M&A data room has its own settings page. Go to Settings > M&A data rooms, select a data room, and use the sidebar to navigate between sections.

General

Rename the data room and change the playbook applied to it.

Access management

Control who has access to the data room and what they can do. Emma supports four data room roles: Deal Responsible, Contributor, Domain Contributor, and Report Viewer. You can invite members directly, import them from another data room, and manage pending invitations.

Assignments

Assign reviewers to specific areas and document types to coordinate the due diligence review across your team. Track review progress per area.

Integrations

Connect external data sources — VDRs (Ansarada, HighQ, Ideals, Intralinks, Virtual Vaults, DealCentre AI) and cloud storage (Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint, Box, Dropbox) — so documents sync automatically into the data room. Manage sync status and reconnect or delete existing connections.

Files

Browse all files currently in the data room and export a file list.

Project settings

Each project has its own settings page. Go to Settings > Projects, select a project, and use the sidebar to navigate between sections.

General

Rename the project and change the playbook (Projects type) applied to it.

Access management

Control who has access to the project. Projects use two roles: Project Responsible and Contributor.

Integrations and files

Connect external data sources to sync documents into the project, and browse or export all files in the project.
